Day 49/365 - Golden Half Love
I love playing around with this little thing. And I really can’t wait to finish the first film so I can get it developed!

Day 49/365 - Golden Half Love
I love playing around with this little thing. And I really can’t wait to finish the first film so I can get it developed!
The tumblr blog you can see in the background (dedicated to the Golden Half) is here.
I *just* loaded my first film roll into my brand new golden half. Mom & Dad used to use rolls all the time when I was younger & I loved clicking photos but I never loaded the film myself. Later when Dad got his first Digital Camera (Leica) I never thought I would ‘need’ to learn (who knew after getting my first dSLR even that I’d get interested in toy photography?) I was pretty nervous. I took mom’s help, made minor mistakes a couple of times then got it right. And you know the film counter? It hardly moved. So I roamed around the house (in it’s current semi-dark state) & clicked random thing four or five times wondering why the counter wouldn’t move. Then I looked closely & noticed that the next number on the counter (after 1) is 6. So it moved only a tiny bit everytime. Shiiit.
Still I’m happy. This is new. I am impatient already. I think toy photography (especially a half frame camera like the gold half) is gonna teach me to be patient.
Day 28/265- My Photo goodies are here!
Yes they are! I was sooo excited I didn’t even click decent pictures.
First picture is with all the goodies together- My SLR Sloop Bag, Perfect Panorama tool, Golden Half (Telepathy) & the little triceratops that Photojojo sent over with my order. So excited.
I know this is primarily supposed to be my Project 365 blog but I can post other stuff too, right? Anyway I can’t keep this in any longer. And so I present to the world- my new camera. The Golden Half. I have always been in love with toy cameras & wanted to get one for the longest time- first I wanted a Diana but somehow I didn’t like it after a bit of research. I like this one so much better! Well I don’t have it yet, it’s in *transit*. On it’s way to me. I chose telepathy.
I am just so freakin’ excited about it. More than I can write. The last time I was this excited was probably while I was getting my MacBook Pro.
Some general info- (Random facts about it that I remember at the moment)
1. It’s a 35mm camera. You remember 35mm film? Before the onset of digital that’s what we used in our cameras!
2. It’s a split cam- two photos per exposure. Do a flickr search to see awesome examples.
3. It’s Japanese. Fuck yeah!
4. The lens is plastic. No zoom. Fixed focus. Two apertures.
5. It doesn’t have a flash, but it does have a hotshoe. I don’t intend on using one, though.
I keep searching Google Images, Tumblr & Flickr to look at pictures *taken with* & *of* this camera. And I make mom look at almost every picture. She’s probably sick of the camera already!
Yeah. Is this what love feels like?
